Character Name: Naoto Shirogane
Canon: Persona 4 Golden
Canon Point: Post-Epilogue, Social Link Max Friendship Route
Type: CRAU
Age: 17
History/Key Points: Once upon a time, there was a young girl born into a family of prestigious private detectives to a loving mother and father. Unfortunately, while she was still but a child, both her mother and father died in an accident. Following the tragedy, her father's father took her in and raised her as best he could with his secretary, even helping her pursue her ambition. Though the task of becoming a detective could seem daunting to others, the young girl was enthralled with the idea of succeeding her deceased father, and continue the line of detectives. For a while, she was even praised for having such deductive reasoning and logic at her age.
However, that praise was not to last as the true nature of the world closed in on her. Children didn't play with her, and adults began to tell her to stay out of their business - that was, unless they actually had use for her skills. After that, they would send her off, and she would cry where no one could see her. Though she got older and began to act older to match the adults in her stories, she found herself being turned away from again by something else: her gender. Confused, the young girl turned to her books again, and took a good look at everyone else working as a detective when it finally clicked. Apparently, she couldn't be a girl if she wanted to be a detective like her parents. So, she decided she would pretend to be a boy.
Years passed, and the young girl aged to a young woman, but no one around her knew. She cut her hair, she made herself tall, she deepened her voice, she did everything and anything to appear as much as a boy as she could without going too far. She still wanted to be her, but she knew it could cost her everything. When another case sent her to Inaba in order to investigate the murders occurring there, reality again finally came to her. When she cried foul to a false arrest, the Police Department dismissed her, and when she continued working independently, the teenagers she suspected of being on the right path pushed her away. The young girl decided to take matters into her own hands, and acted as bait to prove her point.
Her plan worked, and the young girl found herself coming face-to-face with herself - her Shadow self. It voiced her worries about being abandoned and looked down upon in front of the other teenagers, and spoke about how she wanted so badly to be a detective that she acted older just so the adults would take her seriously again. To her horror, it also revealed her true self; that Naoto wasn't a boy, but a girl. Denying the truth before the others, her Shadow transformed into a monster and attacked. The young girl couldn't fight back, but the other teenagers could. Quelling the monster, the young girl - Naoto - stood before it and finally accepted her fears, her anger, her true self.
Since that fateful encounter, she joined the other group of teenagers, and moved forward with them in order to solve the case. Of course, their leader took time to approach her alone in order to address the lingering doubts she still had about herself. She grew closer to their leader, and considered him a valuable friend after he assisted her in getting back the passion she once held for her career. Together with the others, they solved the murder case, defeated a goddess, fought in a tournament, and prevented the end of the world. Once finished, they all had to part ways, but they all knew they would remain friends no matter how far apart they were to become.
Personality: Naoto is someone you could consider living a double life. Outside, and to the social media, she has been built up to be the ideal ace detective that she's earned the title "Detective Prince". She's cold, she's calculating, and she's very efficient at her job. In fact, her family are the detectives only called upon for unsolvable cases, and they get the job done with twenty-four cases on her own record at her age. Of course, because of this outward personality, it's difficult for people to get along with or approach the detective because she doesn't seem to want to get to know, or form relationships with anyone.
Inside, and out of the public eye, Naoto's just as insecure as any other person. In Japanese society, she's an outcast character, and she knows it. Her interests include many things traditionally considered masculine instead of feminine, and her desire to continue pursuing detective work only pushes most people further away. Though her grandfather did his best to guide her, he couldn't stop her from rejecting her own identity because she's still a child in various aspects, part of which brought her to the mental conclusion that she can only be accepted outside of her own home by acting as someone she wasn't. Because of this as well, she lost her real passion for being a detective, and instead, it became more of an obsession to prove herself to others.
Once relieved from the burden of hiding herself around her friends, she's easily embarrassed trying to integrate her inside and outside personalities. At times, Naoto still remains too serious with little quips of herself coming out in small bursts, and then she almost immediately retreats back into her shell. She isn't as embarrassed by her anger coming out, but rarely does she genuinely become mad anyway. Of course, with the influence from her friends, and especially her Senpai, she becomes better about being the person she truly wants to be: a confident woman capable of building a name for herself as a private detective.
(CR)AU Information
Before Cosmo, Naoto was in a game called Mythmakers where characters in various old fairytales and folklore began to disappear. In order to preserve the existence of each tale and try to purvey it once again in the public, characters were drawn into the realm of fairytales and assigned character roles in various stories. Naoto, brought to the fairytale realm herself, was assigned the role of Beauty from Beauty and the Beast, the lost Princess born from a union between another King and a Faerie. To return home, she's expected to finish her story one way, or another...
AU Personality Changes: Nothing substantial of her core personality has changed. However, Naoto is somewhat calmer than her canon self, but mainly to balance out the outbursts the Beast may have. Of course, this outward calmness can be misleading as her emotions are tied to her magic. As such, she's become more practiced with her emotions and power.
AU History Changes: No changes to her history has occurred in Mythmakers save for aforementioned becoming part-fae. Being told she has another family including another father makes her very unnerved.
Other AU Changes: Because of the power loss/change mechanic in Mythmakers, Naoto became unable to summon her Persona. Instead, she began growing more attuned to her magical abilities as a fae which included various small feats like controlling plants. However, she was never expected to have the same powers as a true fae given her half-human nature so she's unable to do things such as granting wishes, or imbuing permanent curses upon people.
Gem: Moss Agate - Located on the back of her Right Hand
Stability, Growth, Emotionally Grounding, Communication with Gaia: It appears as though a misty forest resides in this gem, but it represents Naoto fairly well especially now that she's part-fae as will Beauty's story. A reserved individual and detective, Naoto is a grounded person and often brings people back down to reality by providing coherent explanations for problems when they arise. She's grown as a person, and can influence others to grow by her words, or through her willingness to act alone. Though, now she could use some more growth herself since she not only lives her life now, but the life of Beauty.
Power Considerations:
Extra: Since becoming Beauty, Naoto's default outfit is a rather ornate and expensive looking blue dress.

Power Considerations:
- Elemental Magic - Control over the very basic element: fire, ice, lightning, and wind. And by basic, I mean like just Agi, Bufu, Zio, and Garu level sort of skills. She can conjure the magic from her gem herself, or - with the help of a source - strengthen it. Of course, limiting factor for natural sources, Agi can't be strengthened from lava, Bufu can't be strengthened from water with a high concentration of salt, Zio is only stronger during a lightning storm, and Garu can only be powered up on windy days.
- Plant Manipulation - Connected to the earth, Naoto has the ability to control plant life. However, this power right now is immature, leaving her only able to grow flowers and control vines/roots already present. Larger plants cannot be moved, but she can do smaller things like take the leaves from trees and use them as projectiles. This power is also tied to emotion which can result in plant life withering should she be upset, or becoming wild should anger get the best of her. This cannot be controlled in its current state.
- Flight - From her gem, Naoto can summon fairy wings and fly. However, the wings are young and fragile, leaving flight only possible for short distances at a time.
Extra: Since becoming Beauty, Naoto's default outfit is a rather ornate and expensive looking blue dress.
